The Edo State Government has launched a comprehensive health insurance scheme and inaugurated the Basic Healthcare Provision Fund as part of its efforts to revamp the healthcare sector in the state. This initiative aims to provide affordable and accessible healthcare to all residents of Edo State.

The health insurance scheme will cover a wide range of medical services including primary care, secondary care, and selected tertiary services. The Basic Healthcare Provision Fund will provide free basic healthcare services to vulnerable populations including pregnant women, children under five, and the elderly.

"This is a historic moment for healthcare in Edo State," said the State Governor during the launch ceremony. "With this scheme, we are ensuring that no resident of our state is denied access to quality healthcare due to financial constraints."

The scheme will leverage technology to ensure efficient management and administration. eClat Healthcare has been selected as a technology partner to provide the digital infrastructure for managing enrollee data, provider networks, and claims processing.

The launch of this scheme represents a significant step towards achieving universal health coverage in Edo State and serves as a model for other states in Nigeria.
